Details

Lithium bromide is a colorless granular crystalline substance, stable in nature, will not decompose volatilization and deterioration in the atmosphere, non-toxic (sedative for drama), no irritating effect on the skin. Delixible, slightly bitter. The melting point is 547℃, the boiling point is 1265℃, the relative density is 3.46425, and the refractive index is 1.784. Soluble in methanol, ethanol, amyl alcohol, glycerol, ethylene glycol, acetone, ether, many organic acids, esters and other organic solvents, insoluble in liquid bromine, can not form polybromide. It is highly absorbent and highly soluble in water, and can form a series of hydrates: LiBr·H2O, LiBr·2H2O, LiBr·3H2O. At room temperature, it is a dihydrate, a white crystal, and loses 1 molecule of crystal water at 44℃, and becomes anhydrous at higher than 160℃. Its aqueous solution is neutral or slightly alkaline. It is highly corrosive to common metals. The main measures to prevent corrosion are first to maintain a high vacuum to isolate oxygen, followed by the addition of corrosion inhibitors, and the solution temperature does not exceed 120 ° C. A hot concentrated solution can dissolve cellulose. Enhanced heat in the air, significantly decomposed, precipitated bromine and produced a small amount of lithium carbonate and lithium oxide and became alkaline. When molten, it can strongly corrode glass, porcelain and platinum. It reacts with ammonia in the gaseous state to form LiBr·nNH3. Production method: The direct combination of lithium and bromine, industrial lithium carbonate or lithium hydroxide monohydrate dissolved in the newly prepared hydrobromic acid. Usage: More than 50% of the lithium bromide solution is used in air conditioning equipment as water absorption agent, low temperature heat exchange medium, but also for drying acid gas, oil dehydration, but also a small amount of used in the pharmaceutical industry.
