Applications
L-Aspartic acid has a wide range of uses in medicine, food and chemical industry. In medicine, it can be used to treat heart disease, liver disease, hypertension, and has the effect of preventing and restoring fatigue. Together with a variety of amino acids, it can be made into amino acid infusion, which is used as an ammonia detoxifier, liver function promoter and fatigue recovery agent.
Chemical properties
White crystals or crystalline powder, slightly sour. Soluble in boiling water, slightly soluble in water (0.5%) at 25°C, easily soluble in dilute acid and sodium hydroxide solution, insoluble in ethanol and ether, decomposes when heated to 270°C, isoelectric point 2.77, its specific rotation is related to the solvent. It is right-handed in acid solution, left-handed in alkaline solution, and right-handed in aqueous solution. [α]25D+5.05 (C=0.5-2.0g/ml, H2O).
It is used in synthetic sweeteners, in medicine to treat heart disease, as a liver function promoter, ammonia detoxifier, fatigue reliever and amino acid infusion component, etc.
