β-bromo-phenylethane is an important intermediate in the synthesis of highly effective bromo-based flame retardants polybromo-styrene, and is also commonly used in the preparation of organic synthesis intermediates. For example, β-bromophenethane can be used to prepare the intermediate 4-(4-phenylbutoxy) benzoic acid of Prelenast. As an anti-asthma drug, prelunast was first developed by Ono Company in Japan, and was listed in Japan in 1995, and in 1992, it was found to treat allergic rhinitis. Prelenast is a leukotriene C4/D4 receptor antagonist (lTRAs) with extremely low toxicity. It can selectively inhibit the activity of leukotriene multiskin in airway smooth muscle, and has almost no effect on arachidonic acid metabolic enzymes. At the same time, it has no antagonistic effect on acetylcholine and 5-hydroxytryptamine, and significantly inhibits lTC4, lTD4 and lTE4.
